B&W Babble

Got another email from Bill Emory today. Here's what he said:
> whassup! time for you to revisit my site, some new work and I did a
heh. Bill has some great pics. I bumped him up to 5 stars, which puts him at the top of the list (alphabetically by star count).

Cleaned up some links today, and removed the best of award image from the front page. Maybe I'll make it into its own page someday, about the same time I get around to actually designing this site, and adding some navigational links.

Today I added some categories (blogs and comics) just to even things out a bit, but also because I've been stumbling on some b&w blogs lately too.
The new links are all from http://jenett.org/ageless/ which is a project called ageless that basically categorizes sites by how old they are, and posts a huge list. One of the fortunate things about this project (for me) is that they take a screenshot of each page, and post it in the list. I've just been surfing the site, and randomly clicking on anything that looks remotely B&W.

I hope no news is good news.
Today I tweaked some ratings a bit, and added http://www.catandgirl.com/ (I added http://www.victoryshag.com/ a few days ago). I should really spend some time and develop this site a bit more. I think some navigation is needed, and I was thinking a forum of some sort might not be a bad idea either.
As always, email if you have any suggestions or B&W site submissions!

I'm debating the addition of comments about each site on the main index page. On one hand, the comments would help give context to each site, and might be benneficial. On the other hand, I might just say stupid stuff, and it'd be pointless.
I've added a link to http://anexquisitecorpse.net/. It's a great concept, and I've already sent an email asking to join.

B&WWWW got its first submission today! Olivier Corvisier from Paris sent a link to his site Ordinary Days. It's full of beautiful photography.

I added http://www.dazeofourlives.com/ to the list. The owner sent me an email with a zeldman link (that quotes him) with tips on how to get nice "netscape friendly" b&w photos. It was a very nice email, and it's a great site!

I added http://www.undesign.org/ to the index. It's a sort of design manifesto site. (Which of course means it looks very pretty.)
Also added were various photography sites. I reorganized the index considerably, and photography has emerged as by far the largest category.

I got an unsolicited email from Bill Emory today. He basically thanked me for linking to his site, and said he was happy to make my acquaintance. I wrote him back, and we'll see if I hear anything more, but his email was enough inspiration to get me started on this page, and also to write a B&W How-To, (forthcoming when I get around to it).
This site also needs navigational links if I'm going to start adding pages. (And it appears that I am, so...)

I wrote a message to Karl Hornell recently, and just today recieved a response. Here is an excerpt:
>Also, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind commenting on why you chose
I didn't have much of a choice. When I started building the site in 1994, the only available computer in my workplace on which I could design the graphics was an old Macintosh LC II with a grayscale monitor. Later on I decided to stick with this color scheme because it helped focus attention on the content rather than the package.
