Apparently I’m not manly enough when I’m chatting. Laura pointed out the other day (while looking over my shoulder at an ICQ conversation) that I say “hehe” all the time, like a little schoolgirl. Sometimes I’ll interject with a somewhat manly “heh.” But that’s really just for variety; at heart I’m an IM wimp.
Ah, “hehe” seems more like a chuckle to me and is definitely better than “lol” or using “hahaha” all the time (which is too over the top).
And it’d get annoying to have to type <scoff>, <manly laugh with arms resting on hips>, or “laughs in a supportive yet masculine manner” all the time.
Doh, it confused some of my text for HTML tags. Guess I’ll have to hit “preview” next time.
